What is a Passive House?
A Passive House is designed to be thermally comfortable year-round, no matter the external conditions. These homes are built with:
- Airtight construction for energy efficiency
- Thermal insulation to maintain internal comfort
- Mechanical heat recovery ventilation (MVHR) for fresh, filtered air
- High-performance glazing to reduce heat loss
- Thermal bridge-free detailing to eliminate cold spots
This results in a home that is resilient to extreme temperature fluctuations, significantly reducing energy use and creating a healthier, quieter, and more sustainable living environment.
Our Passive House Approach
As Certified Passive House designers and builders, we specialise in delivering homes that exceed conventional building standards.
- Precision in design
– Incorporating advanced building science and Passive House principles from the start.
- Seamless construction
– Combining innovative materials and airtight building techniques to meet certification standards.
- Measured performance
– Using rigorous testing to verify the home’s airtightness and energy efficiency.

A Passive House blueprint for the future of city living
We designed a 9.6 Star NatHERS-rated home in Abbotsford to meet Passive House Certification. It incorporates solar panels, rainwater capture, greywater re-use, and a rooftop food garden to minimise environmental impact.
With maximised northern glazing and central courtyards, the home is naturally lit and passively heated and cooled. Its modern design respects the surrounding architecture, representing a holistic approach to environmentally conscious architecture and lifestyle choices.
