8.3 Star NatHERS Rating
This home is intrinsically tied to its Shoreham setting, positioned to embrace the north-east, it maximises natural light while shielding against harsh western sun. Deep roof overhangs and dual outdoor spaces adapt to shifting coastal winds, ensuring year-round comfort. The design respects the land’s history, integrating with mature trees planted by the client decades ago. Materiality echoes the natural surroundings, fostering a quiet dialogue between built form and landscape.

As a renovation project to an existing heritage home, it can sometimes be challenging to reach our carbon reduction targets. The existing house had a low energy rating due to lack of insulation and high performance glazing, while also being powered by a gas hot water system and heated by a gas-powered hydronic system.
