A cosy space to gather around the Oblica Stuv 30 Compact fireplace
7.9 Star NatHERS Rating
Set within a cherished family property held since the 1980s, this project sought to create a contemporary home that honours its rich natural setting and the emotional legacy of the land. The site, defined by its mature trees and long-standing character, provided both a backdrop and a responsibility — to protect and enhance rather than overwrite. For the clients, the new home was as much about preserving a sense of place as it was about creating a new chapter. They wanted a sanctuary that encouraged wildlife, supported native planting, and offered moments of quiet connection to nature — from bird habitats to the play of sea breezes drifting in from nearby coastal walks.

As a renovation project to an existing heritage home, it can sometimes be challenging to reach our carbon reduction targets. The existing house had a low energy rating due to lack of insulation and high performance glazing, while also being powered by a gas hot water system and heated by a gas-powered hydronic system.
